Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ:IBKR) has launched cryptocurrency staking for eligible clients, allowing investors to earn rewards on Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) while managing digital assets alongside traditional investments.
How Will Crypto Services Expand
IBKR on Tuesday announced that clients can now stake Ethereum through its Client Portal, with staking services provided by zerohash.
Investors can submit staking and unstaking requests, monitor transactions and earn rewards credited as additional staked cryptocurrency, allowing returns to compound.
“Similar to how our Stock Yield Enhancement Program allows clients to earn additional income on shares they own, staking gives clients an opportunity to earn rewards on the cryptocurrency they own,” said CEO Milan Galik.
The brokerage currently supports trading in 20 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), XRP (CRYPTO: XRP), Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE), Solana (CRYPTO: SOL) and Ethereum.
Traditional Brokerages To Transform
The staking launch expands Interactive Brokers’ digital asset offerings beyond trading.
The platform also supports stablecoin funding through USDC, Ripple USD (CRYPTO: RLUSD) and PayPal USD (CRYPTO: PYUSD), alongside crypto transfers to custodial and self-custody wallets.
By integrating staking, stablecoin funding and crypto trading with stocks, options, futures and bonds, Interactive Brokers is expanding access to digital assets within traditional brokerage accounts.
The move also highlights growing competition among financial platforms to offer crypto services beyond simple buying and selling.
However, staking rewards are not guaranteed, and investors remain exposed to crypto price volatility and staking-related risks.
