Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Tuesday accused President Donald Trump of profiting from his oil and gas holdings during the Iran war, even as everyday Americans paid more at the pump.
Trump’s Oil Holdings Gained Up to $4.4 Million
Warren, in a post on X, said Trump’s nine largest oil and gas holdings gained an estimated $1.5 million to $4.4 million between the eve of the Iran war and the end of August.
“Meanwhile, Americans have been paying more at the pump,” she added.
The senator renewed her calls to ban the president, as well as Vice President JD Vance and Congress, from trading and owning equities.
Trump’s Disclosure Shows
Trump’s latest financial disclosure shows extensive trading activity in energy stocks throughout July, including sales of Chevron Corp. (NYSE:CVX), ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) and Halliburton Co. (NYSE:HAL) each valued between $15,001 and $50,000.
He also bought and sold smaller positions in EQT Corp. (NYSE:EQT), ExxonMobil Holdings Corp. (NYSE:XOM), Devon Energy Corp. (NYSE:DVN), SLB Ltd. (NYSE:SLB), Kinder Morgan Inc. Gas and Diesel Prices Keep Climbing
The national average for gasoline stood at $4.4750 a gallon as of Tuesday, according to AAA, up from $4.1024 a month ago and $3.1843 a year ago, while diesel was at $6.5276 a gallon, up from $5.5947 a month ago and $3.6880 a year ago.
West Texas Intermediate crude futures were down 0.38% at $90.18, at the time of writing, as flows through the Strait of Hormuz edge back toward pre-war levels. Brent Crude was up 0.59% at $99.12.
