A member of Congress may have Magnificent Seven stocks on the mind, with a recent disclosure showing the sale of one and the purchase of another. Here’s a look at the moves.
Congressman Swaps Magnificent Seven Stocks
Rep. John McGuire (R-Va.) recently disclosed several stock trades, which can be tracked on the Benzinga Government Trades page.
The trades were:
- Aug. 18: Buy $1,000 to $15,000 in Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) stock
- Aug. 18: Sell $1,000 to $15,000 in Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) stock
The transaction stands out as it was the swap of one Magnificent Seven stock for another. The timing also lines up with selling Apple stock ahead of new CEO John Ternus officially taking over on Sept. 1.
McGuire is a member of the House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology and Government Innovation, which makes any trades in the technology sector ones to monitor.
The congressman owned shares of both of these stocks before the sales.
McGuire previously bought $1,000 to $15,000 in Apple stock on April 15, 2026. Apple stock traded between $257.81 and $266.56 on that day. On the day of the sale, Apple stock traded between $305.74 to $311.49.
This means McGuire made between 14.7% and 20.8% on his trade in just over four months. The reason for the sale could have been simply to take profits.
As for buying Nvidia stock, this adds to McGuire’s position and could show his preference for that Magnificent Seven stock.
McGuire previously bought Nvidia stock on Jan. 30 and April 15, with both transactions in the $1,000 to $15,000 range.
McGuire’s Trading History
As for Magnificent Seven stocks, McGuire has bought Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Microsoft stock all this year.
Since 2025, McGuire has made only 22 trades worth $176,000, according to data from Quiver Quantitative, ranking among the lower end of the members ofCongresss who buy and sell stocks.
