ServiceNow Inc (NYSE:NOW) shares are declining Wednesday after a report detailing OpenAI’s push deeper into enterprise software rattled investor confidence in legacy workflow automation platforms, with an earnings report due after the close adding another layer of caution to the session.

OpenAI’s New Enterprise Product Threatens the Legacy Software Playbook

The pressure on software names today comes from the fact that OpenAI has developed a product called Presence, an enterprise offering designed to weave AI agents into the internal machinery of large organizations, Business Insider reported.

Rather than simply selling access to its underlying models, OpenAI is now packaging the connective tissue that allows those agents to interface with a company’s proprietary data, internal policies, existing technology stack and established workflows.

The practical applications reportedly span customer support automation, sales process management, billing resolution, insurance claims handling and IT service desk operations.

OpenAI is not alone in making this move. The broader AI industry is converging on corporate software as a growth vector precisely because the model market itself is becoming increasingly crowded. Rivals including Anthropic, Google, Meta and others are releasing capable models at falling prices, compressing margins and making customers more willing to switch providers.

That commoditization dynamic is pushing AI labs toward stickier, higher-value enterprise relationships where the product is a complete business solution rather than raw model access.

Critical Price Levels To Watch For NOW

The longer‑term trend is still heavy. The stock is down 49.98% over the past 12 months and trades 24.5% below the 200‑day SMA at $127.58, which keeps the primary bias bearish until price can climb back above that long‑term trend line. It is also 6.8% below the 20‑day SMA $103.36 and 7.3% below the 50‑day SMA $103.93, so even the short‑term trend levels are acting as overhead supply.

The moving‑average structure adds to the pressure. The 20‑day SMA sits below the 50‑day SMA and the death cross created when the 50‑day fell under the 200‑day in August 2025 is still active. That setup often means rallies can be choppy and prone to failure unless buyers can push price back above the 50‑day and 100‑day zone.

For momentum, the MACD is the clearest read. It is below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which points to fading upside pressure compared with the prior upswing. When MACD sits under the signal line, it usually signals that sellers still control the trend impulse unless momentum can flip back in buyers’ favor.

  • Key Resistance: $114.00, a round‑number zone above the cluster of short‑term moving averages where rebounds often stall.
  • Key Support: $89.50, a nearby floor near the lower end of the 52‑week range where buyers may try to defend a retest.

ServiceNow will report second-quarter results after the market close on Wednesday. The company is expected to report earnings of 85 cents per share and revenue of $3.93 billion, according to Benzinga Pro.
