Netanyahu’s Fate Hangs in the Balance

Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket currently prices in a 28% chance of Netanyahu coming back to power, down sharply from 64% recorded in early May.

Prediction markets give Gadi Eisenkot, Netanyahu’s chief rival, a 55% chance of becoming Israel’s next prime minister, while former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett stands at 10%.

What’s at Stake for Israel?

The vote is Israel’s first national election since the October 2023 Hamas attack, which triggered Israel’s assault on Gaza.

Netanyahu has an arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.

Netanyahu’s relationship with President Donald Trump soured earlier this year over Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon, but the two leaders appeared to have mended ties.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump endorsed Netanyahu, urging Israelis to vote for the “warrior” prime minister.

Voting opens at 7 a.m. local time Tuesday (1 a.m. ET) and closes at 10 p.m. Tuesday (4 p.m. ET), when Israeli television channels will broadcast exit polls offering the first indication of the result, according to Reuters.
