Blockchain.com and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) are teaming up to explore 24/7 access to tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs, deepening the convergence between traditional capital markets and blockchain-based trading.
Tokenization Goes Mainstream
On Wednesday, Blockchain.com and NYSE Group announced a strategic collaboration aimed at developing products that could give crypto-native investors worldwide access to tokenized versions of NYSE-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds.
The companies are exploring 24/7/365 on chain trading, potentially removing restrictions tied to traditional market hours, geography and brokerage access.
“Tokenized stocks are one of the most impactful advancements in the modern financial landscape,” Blockchain.com Executive Chairman, CEO and co-founder Peter Smith said.
Smith said connecting to the NYSE digital alternative trading system could eventually extend access to tokenized securities to tens of millions of Blockchain.com users globally.
The agreement comes as tokenization moves deeper into mainstream finance.
Citi Institute estimates the tokenized asset market could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030 under its base-case scenario.
NYSE, Blockchain.com To Share Market Data
The partnership extends beyond tokenized securities into a two-way exchange of financial data.
NYSE affiliate ICE Data Services plans to distribute Blockchain.com’s cryptocurrency market data and analytics to its clients, providing traditional financial institutions with additional digital-asset intelligence.
Blockchain.com, meanwhile, plans to integrate ICE and NYSE exchange data into its platform, putting real-time equity-market information in front of its more than 44 million confirmed accounts.
The stock-market data will also feed into June, Blockchain.com’s crypto-focused AI assistant.
The collaboration builds on Blockchain.com’s earlier partnership with Ondo Finance, which brought tokenized U.S. stocks on chain for European customers.
