NIO Inc. (NYSE:NIO) said Wednesday it expanded its European collaboration with HERE Technologies to support mapping, navigation and assisted-driving features across its vehicle lineup.
S&P 500 futures were up about 0.1%, while NIO shares remained in a longer-term downtrend.
NIO Expands HERE Partnership Across Europe
The expanded HERE Technologies partnership now covers the ET5, ET7, EL6, EL7 and EL8, extending beyond the Firefly model.
NIO will use HERE’s streaming map capabilities to provide updated information on road network changes, traffic regulations, points of interest, road conditions and lane configurations.
The technology will support navigation and the development of NIO’s Navigation on Autopilot, or NOA.
NIO and HERE also plan to explore future AI-driven driving capabilities tied to NIO World Model, the automaker’s end-to-end AI driving architecture.

NIO Recalls Firefly EVs In China
Separately, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said on September 18 that NIO will recall 686 Firefly EVs produced between March 20 and April 2, 2026.
A manufacturing issue could interfere with the steering-column torque sensor, potentially causing a loss of steering assist in extreme cases.
Technical Trend Remains Weak
NIO trades 3.9% below its 20-day simple moving average and 27.1% below its 200-day average.
The 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA, while the death cross formed in June remains intact, signaling continued longer-term technical weakness.
Short-term momentum has improved, however. MACD is above its signal line with a positive histogram, suggesting selling pressure has eased.
Key support sits near $3.50, close to the stock’s 52-week low of $3.55.
Wall Street Remains Cautious
NIO carries a Hold rating with an average price target of $5.50.
JPMorgan downgraded NIO to Neutral and lowered its target to $4.50 on September 2. Bernstein lowered its target to $5 while maintaining Market Perform the same day.
Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock to Buy with a $7 target on July 13.
NIO Price Action: Nio shares were down 0.54% at $3.70 during premarket trading on Wednesday. The stock is near its 52-week low of $3.55, according to Benzinga Pro data.
