Anthony Pompliano, CEO of ProCap Financial Inc., said on Tuesday that “AI doomers” are using the same fear-based playbook as past cryptocurrency skeptics.

Pompliano Says AI Skeptics Want to Scare

In an X post, Pompliano dismissed concerns about AI risks as “nonsense,” urging people not to pay attention to them.

“They just want to scare the public, so they can increase their control,” the Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) bull said.

Pompliano described this cohort as “AI doomers,” adding that they’re the same people who were “crypto doomers” a few years ago.

Will AI Lead to Catastrophe?

A broader discussion of AI’s impact on humans and the industry has erupted after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called on AI companies to “pace the frontier” and slow advancements. His call drew support from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Elon Musk.

Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella has also weighed in, noting that these AI safety risks present a challenge not only to the U.S. but also to China.

Pompliano said in July that the U.S. should outperform Chinese AI rivals through innovation rather than restrictions, amid reports that the Trump administration is weighing new limits on advanced Chinese AI models.

Last year, he highlighted the rapid adoption of AI and robotics, noting that companies are removing “an insane amount of inefficiency out of every single corner of the system,” leading to significant cost savings.
