As Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) gears up for the Cybercab launch event in Austin, Texas, investor Ross Gerber, who is the co-founder of investment firm Gerber Kawasaki, says he is looking forward to the reveal.

Cybercab Is ‘Not Ugly’

In a series of posts on X on Tuesday, Gerber said that a “great thing” about the Cybercab was that it was “not ugly like the new Waymo’s and the zoox toaster.” He then said that “hopefully” Tesla can “launch these in scale and get them working right.”

In a separate post, Gerber expressed that he was looking forward to the vehicle’s launch. “While most cars companies continue to be well behind in software and hardware,” Tesla was launching its first “physical AI EV.” The investor then said that it could be “very interesting to watch this play out.”

Skepticism Around Tesla’s Robotaxi

Gerber had earlier acknowledged Tesla’s Robotaxi expansion, saying that the move presented two scenarios. Gerber said that the “good news” was that the network would “only grow from here,” but warned that the expansion may not come soon enough for Elon Musk.

Meanwhile, investor Gary Black of The Future Fund LLC said that he was skeptical of Tesla bulls’ predictions about the company’s unsupervised autonomy, reaffirming that the EV giant’s competitors will also be able to achieve self-driving goals.

On the Full Self-Driving (FSD) front, Tesla denied reports that it was shutting down its FSD offerings in China, saying that the automaker had no such plans and that its data center in Shanghai built for autonomous driving was operational. Tesla also said it was working to expand its workforce in the country.

Price Action: TSLA shares were down 0.10% to $355.74 during overnight trading on Tuesday.
