Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (NYSE:MSGE) stock rose Wednesday after the live entertainment company reported better-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter results.
Madison Square Garden Entertainment reported a loss of 21 cents per share, narrower than the 49-cent loss expected by analysts. Revenue came in at $196.32 million, topping the $166.62 million estimate.
Fourth-quarter revenue rose 27% year over year from $154.14 million, driven by stronger entertainment, arena leasing and food and beverage sales.
Concerts Drive Revenue Growth
Entertainment offerings generated $152.7 million in revenue, up 29% from a year earlier. Concert revenue increased by $22.7 million, helped by more concerts at Madison Square Garden Arena and higher revenue per concert. That growth was partly offset by fewer concerts at the company’s theaters.
Arena license fees and other leasing revenue increased 27% to $11.5 million. Food, beverage and merchandise revenue rose 22% to $32.2 million. Higher concert activity at The Garden and stronger per-game food and beverage revenue at New York Knicks and New York Rangers games helped drive the increase.
The company posted an operating loss of $8.6 million, improving from a $25.8 million loss a year earlier. Adjusted operating income reached $18.6 million, compared with an adjusted operating loss of $1.3 million in the year-ago quarter.
Net loss narrowed to $10 million from $27.2 million. The loss per share improved to 21 cents from 57 cents a year earlier.
Fiscal 2026 Revenue Tops $1 Billion
For fiscal 2026, revenue increased 13% to $1.06 billion. Operating income rose 16% to $141.5 million, while adjusted operating income increased 18% to $262.2 million.
The company welcomed about 6.4 million guests across nearly 960 events during the year. It also sold more than 1.2 million tickets across 215 paid performances of the Christmas Spectacular, which generated record revenue.
Operating cash flow climbed to $351.4 million for fiscal 2026 from $115.3 million a year earlier. Madison Square Garden Entertainment ended June with $294.2 million in cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash.
Executive Chairman and CEO James L. Dolan said demand for the company’s live entertainment offerings remained strong. He said Madison Square Garden Entertainment expects “solid growth” in adjusted operating income in fiscal 2027.
