Co-Diagnostics Inc. (NASDAQ:CODX), a molecular diagnostics firm, announced that its Indian joint venture, CoSara Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd., shipped evaluation kits of its SARAGENE Bundibugyo Virus Test to an independent testing facility.
The distribution was initiated at the behest of the India Center for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), an initiative backed by the India Department of Biotechnology.
Expanding Point-Of-Care Diagnostics For Virus Testing
Alongside deploying these test kits, the company completed a proof-of-concept trial for a new extraction-free Ebola diagnostic tool.
The test, built upon the company’s proprietary Co-Primers technology, was evaluated on the Co-Dx PCR Pro instrument using diluted plasma samples.
The feasibility achievement represents the first blood-borne assay engineered specifically for the PCR Pro point-of-care testing platform.
Ongoing analytical studies for the Bundibugyo diagnostic kits are designed to rigorously evaluate the test’s limit of detection, repeatability, and reproducibility.
These evaluations commenced after C-CAMP requested 200 of the specialized tests.
The request aligns with C-CAMP’s InDx 2.0 National Diagnostics Catapult, a program launched in 2023 to proactively fortify India’s self-reliance and readiness against current and future global pandemics.
Addressing Present And Future Ebola Outbreaks
Developed for centralized laboratories, the current Bundibugyo test utilizes patented technology to target a specific Ebola species that is presently fueling outbreaks throughout East and Central Africa.
To further bolster global health defenses, CoSara is creating a more advanced, second-generation pan-Ebola assay.
The broad-spectrum diagnostic tool aims to detect multiple Ebola species simultaneously.
By enabling early laboratory confirmations, the test will facilitate rapid outbreak responses and significantly strengthen virus detection capabilities in high-risk regions worldwide.
CODX Stock Price Activity: Co-Diagnostics shares were up 6.86% at $2.18 during premarket trading Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
