A train collision between a high-speed train, which derailed and crashed into an oncoming train in Spain, has resulted in at least 21 fatalities, about 223 miles away from the capital city of Madrid, according to Reuters on Sunday.

The incident occurred near Adamuz in the province of Cordoba, with over 75 people hospitalized, the report said. Authorities confirmed that there were about 400 passengers in both trains. The high-speed train was running on the Malaga-to-Madrid route.

According to a press release shared by Renfe, Spain’s state-owned train operator, the incident occurred at 7:45 PM local time.
