WeRide Now Has Over 1,000 Robotaxis

In a post on the social media platform X on Thursday, the company announced the 1,000 Robotaxi feat, sharing that it has “reached 1,023 Robotaxis globally!” WeRide also announced that it had achieved driverless operations in Beijing, Guangzhou & Abu Dhabi.

The company also shared that the milestone was an important step in its vision to achieve “tens of thousands of Robotaxis by 2030.”

WeRide Offers WeChat Integration

The company also recently announced it would be offering integration with China’s popular WeChat app, backed by Tencent Holding Ltd. (OTC:TCEHY). WeChat currently has over a billion users. The integration, WeRide Go, will allow WeChat users to book Robotaxi rides in Guangzhou and Beijing.

The Robotaxi company had announced earlier that it was partnering with Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE:UBER) and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to launch its Robotaxi rides in Dubai on the Uber app.

Waymo’s Ojai Robotaxi

Alphabet Inc.-backed (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) Waymo also unveiled its Robotaxi, built with Chinese automaker Zeekr, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026. The Robotaxi, dubbed “Ojai,” sports a minivan-like design and features 3 cameras, 6 radar sensors, and 4 LiDAR sensors.

This comes as Waymo has sought to raise more than $10 billion in funding at a $100 billion valuation. As of November 2025, Waymo’s global Robotaxi fleet is over 2,500 vehicles, while the company is also eyeing an expansion into London this year.

Tesla Robotaxi

On the other hand, Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) failed to reach CEO Elon Musk‘s target of having driverless Robotaxi operations by the end of last year in Austin, Texas.

However, Tesla bulls like investor Dan Ives remain steadfast in their support of the company, with Ives sharing that the EV giant would eventually own up to 80% of the Robotaxi market.
