Adams Street Partners has appointed Michael Kurlander — currently a partner and chief financial officer — as chief operating officer, expanding his existing responsibilities.

In the broadened role, Kurlander will continue to oversee the firm’s financial strategy while also leading operations and helping drive long‑term growth and organizational scale, the private markets investment management firm said Wednesday in a press release.

“Adams Street has been focused on building an operating platform that supports the evolving needs of our clients globally,” said Kurlander, partner and CFO/COO. “I look forward to continue working closely with our partners and colleagues to ensure the firm remains well positioned to deliver for clients over the long term.”

Managing partner and head of investments Jeffrey Diehl added, “Mike has been a trusted leader and partner at Adams Street. This appointment recognizes the scope of responsibility he has already assumed and reflects our confidence in his leadership and judgment in supporting our institutional and wealth clients.”

The $65 billion firm also announced four partner promotions.

  • Peter Andersson, investor relations – Andersson joined in 2022 and focuses on the development of client and consultant relationships across the Nordic region.
  • Ali Cliff, growth equity – Cliff joined in 2016 and focuses on growth investments across application software, fintech, consumer and digital health.
  • Kristina Milberg, investor relations – Milberg joined in 2016 and supports the firm’s capital raising activities and manages client relationships across the United States.
  • Steve Montag, accounting and tax – Montag joined in 2014 and oversees the firm’s accounting and tax function, including teams responsible for the accounting, reporting and administration of Adams Street’s management companies, funds and investments.
