U.S. stocks were lower, with the Dow Jones falling around 300 points on Friday.

Shares of AutoNation Inc (NYSE:AN) rose sharply after reporting upbeat third-quarter earnings.

AutoNation reported quarterly earnings of $5.11 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $5.08 per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $7.010 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $6.967 billion.

AutoNation shares jumped 8% to $182.82 on Friday.
