Cryptocurrency voters could become a decisive force in the midterm elections on Nov. 3, with industry advocacy groups mobilizing millions of supporters.

Could Crypto Voters Swing Elections?

In a Bitcoin Magazine interview on Oct. 23, Mason Lynaugh, executive director of “Stand With Crypto”, said the organization has more than 3.1 million advocates and is working to turn crypto supporters into an influential voting bloc.

He argued that crypto voters could determine the outcome of closely contested races, where victory margins may be just hundreds or thousands of votes.

“Crypto voters can be the swing voter they’ve always been looking for,” Lynaugh said, referring to politicians seeking to attract undecided voters.

He also highlighted growing congressional support, noting that the number of lawmakers receiving favorable crypto ratings from the organization has increased from roughly 90 to 338 over three years.

How Would Democratic Control Impact Crypto?

Lynaugh remained optimistic about bipartisan cryptocurrency legislation, even if Democrats gain control of the House or Senate.

He pointed to bipartisan support for the Genius Act and the Clarity Act as evidence that digital asset regulation can attract lawmakers from both parties.

Lynaugh expects the Genius Act’s implementation to demonstrate the benefits of stablecoins, including institutional adoption, on-chain liquidity and strengthening U.S. dollar dominance.

Successful stablecoin regulation could build momentum for broader Bitcoin and cryptocurrency legislation.

Coinbase, Ripple Lead Crypto Political Spending

The crypto industry’s growing political influence comes alongside record election spending.

According to Al Jazeera, political advertising spending for the 2026 midterms is projected to reach $11.6 billion, surpassing previous U.S. election cycles, including the 2024 presidential election.

Cryptocurrency companies rank among the prominent corporate contributors, with Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) contributing $57.8 million, Ripple $49.6 million and Crypto.com parent Foris DAX $39 million.

Meanwhile, the crypto-focused Fairshake political action committee and its affiliates reportedly had almost $95 million remaining as the elections approached.

Lynaugh emphasized that grassroots mobilization could prove just as important as financial contributions.

With control of Congress at stake, the election could shape the future of crypto market structure legislation and determine how quickly Washington advances digital asset regulation.
