AST SpaceMobile, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTS) announced Monday that it secured regulatory approval for 30 MHz of S-band spectrum in Brazil and secondary access to up to 20 MHz in the 700 MHz band.

The company also signed agreements with four regional mobile operators and plans to build ground infrastructure to expand satellite-based cellular broadband services.

Regulatory Approval Supports Expansion

Brazil’s telecommunications regulator, Anatel, authorized 30 MHz of S-band spectrum and approved secondary use of up to 20 MHz in the 700 MHz band within participating operators’ licensed areas.

The approvals will support AST SpaceMobile’s plans to deliver voice calls, broadband data and video streaming directly to standard smartphones without hardware modifications.

Brazil’s Coverage Gaps Offer Growth Potential

Brazil has more than 210 million residents, but mobile coverage remains limited in remote areas. Roughly half of its federal and state highways and two-thirds of land available for agricultural use lack 4G or 5G coverage, according to assessments cited by the company.

The four regional agreements expand AST SpaceMobile’s partnerships, which now include more than 60 mobile operators worldwide serving over 3 billion subscribers.

Ground Infrastructure Plans Advance

AST SpaceMobile also plans to invest in four ground gateways in Brazil to connect its BlueBird satellite network with terrestrial mobile networks.

However, commercial service availability will depend on satellite deployment, infrastructure development, network integration and regulatory approvals.

AST SpaceMobile Stock Analysis

AST SpaceMobile stock rose Monday alongside broader market gains, with the Nasdaq adding about 1% and the S&P 500 up 0.68%.

The stock remains in a long-term downtrend despite Monday’s gains. It is trading 18.4% below its 20-day simple moving average (SMA) of $49.63. It is also 29% below its 50-day SMA of $57.07 and 48.5% below its 200-day SMA of $78.58.

Additionally, the 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA. The stock also formed a bearish death cross in July when its 50-day moving average fell below the 200-day average.

Momentum indicators point to continued weakness. The moving average convergence divergence (MACD) indicator remains below its signal line, while its histogram is negative.

This pattern suggests buying momentum is fading. Therefore, ASTS may struggle to sustain a recovery without stronger demand.

  • Key Resistance: The 20-day SMA at $49.63 represents an important resistance level. A move above this price could signal improving short-term momentum.
  • Key Support: The stock’s 52-week low of $37.80 remains a critical support level. A drop below this level could trigger additional selling pressure.
