Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) is selling control as a product. The data analytics company touted a wave of sovereign AI deployments with flagship customers Wednesday, as one of its top executives worked to calm European allies worried about relying on American defense technology.
The customer list includes L3Harris Technologies Inc. (NYSE:LHX), NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA), Ondas Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:ONDS) and Regna AI.

Palantir said the group accelerated its own sovereignty efforts after last month’s joint announcement with Nvidia, which showed how Palantir’s Foundry, Ontology and AIP software sped up the chipmaker’s supply chain from wafer to first token.
The timing could be meaningful as Europe has spent the past week questioning its dependence on U.S. tech.
Starshield Restrictions Rattle Europe
Ukraine’s Starshield operations were unexpectedly restricted on Oct. 13 and 14. Starshield is the military-grade version of the satellite network run by Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX).
Two U.S. officials and a Western official told Reuters the Pentagon’s leadership received instructions from within the White House to slow the service.
A U.S. official told Reuters the president never made such a request. Ukrainian and European officials suspected a political motive, since the restrictions came after President Donald Trump demanded Ukraine stop striking Russian oil refineries, according to Reuters.
Palantir Says Customers Hold the Controls
Louis Mosley, Palantir’s executive vice president for the UK and Europe, addressed the fallout head-on. He told Reuters neither the company nor the U.S. could switch off the Maven Smart System AI platform used by NATO’s military headquarters and several European armed forces.
“There are no kill switches,” Mosley said. Customers who buy the software have full operational control and can run it independently of Palantir, he added.
Maven processes large volumes of data from satellites, radars and other sensors to give military officers a picture of the battlefield and speed up decisions. NATO bought the system for its Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in 2025 and declared it had reached full technical operational capability in June.
But not every ally is sold. Germany and France have not adopted Maven for their own armed forces. In April, the head of Germany’s cyber command ruled out buying the system, saying private-company employees should never have access to the country’s national military database.
Mosley said any Palantir staff involvement is up to the customer and would require local citizens with security clearance.

Sovereignty Push
Sovereignty has become the centerpiece of Palantir’s commercial pitch this year. The company hosted two Sovereignty Bootcamps in under 30 days over the summer, drawing nearly 200 organizations. The Starlink episode hands Palantir a live example of the exact risk its software claims to remove.
