Iran’s Security Chief Mohsen Rezaee on Tuesday warned that there would be no scaling back of Tehran’s nuclear efforts until the U.S. and President Donald Trump agree to Iran’s conditions.
‘There Will Be No Negotiations,’ Rezaee Says
In a post on the social media platform X, Rezaee dismissed the scope of talks between Washington and Tehran, as well as the rollback of nuclear efforts.
“Not a single gram of enriched uranium will be removed from Iran,” he said in the post. “There will be no negotiations until the United States takes steps to build trust,” Rezaee added.
The security chief then stressed the importance of adhering to Iran’s conditions. “That process must begin with the full fulfillment of all Iran’s conditions,” he said, but did not outline what those conditions were.
Rezaee said earlier this month that the U.S. had accepted some of the seven conditions Iran laid out, but warned that its response was not “adequate” for Tehran.
Iranian officials have continued to cite the conditions Tehran wants fulfilled before negotiations with Washington can resume. Reuters reported that Iran’s seven conditions include lifting the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports, removing sanctions on its oil exports and ending hostilities across regional fronts.
The demands are also tied to Tehran’s position on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Pezeshkian Demands Sanctions Relief
Meanwhile, according to a report by Reuters on Tuesday, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir met with top Iranian officials, including the President, Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
Tehran demanded that Washington lift sanctions and the blockade on its ports, among other demands, before it can get to the negotiating table to discuss terms of a possible deal.
Pezeshkian, according to a report by Tehran-based WANA News agency on Tuesday, said that Trump must remove pressure, lift sanctions, and end threats to Iran during the meeting in the Iranian capital on Tuesday.
Notably, the U.S. has placed several restrictions on Tehran via sanctions under the Treasury Department’s “Operation Economic Outcast” touted by the Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
