Morgan Stanley Names eBay Top Pick on Live Commerce
Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) analyst Nathan Feather recently raised his price target to $132 from $127, kept an Overweight rating and named eBay his Top Pick, according to The Fly, as cited by TradingView.
Feather said U.S. live commerce has grown more than fivefold to $27 billion over two years. He estimated eBay Live accounted for at least 40% of fiscal 2026 gross merchandise volume (GMV) growth. GMV is the total value of paid transactions on a marketplace, including shipping fees and taxes, before returns.
Earlier this week, Wells Fargo analyst Ken Gawrelski cut his price target to $91 from $92 and kept an Underweight rating.
Secondhand Shopping Shifts From Occasional to Routine
The stock move also followed eBay’s release of “eight surprising things” from its 2026 Recommerce Report, published last week. According to eBay, the report, based on a survey of more than 10,000 secondhand shoppers and 1,700 eBay sellers, points to rising consumer demand for secondhand goods.
The survey found that 47% of consumers buy pre-owned goods at least monthly, up from 35% in 2025.
The habit is stronger among younger buyers. Among 18- to 29-year-olds, 46% shop secondhand weekly or biweekly, compared with 28% across all age groups, according to eBay.
Cost pressures also play a role. Seventy percent of respondents said buying secondhand is important to managing household expenses, rising to 76% among Gen Z.
