Top Wall Street bull Dan Ives believes that the Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) Roadster reveal event has solidified the potential for the EV giant to deepen its ties with Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX).

Roadster Event Could Pave the Way for Merger

In a post on X on Thursday, the investor hailed the Roadster unveil, calling it “impressive” and that the event “puts the Tesla/SpaceX relationship on the table in a tangible way.”

He added that the Roadster featured “propulsion, pressure-vessel, and control hardware,” which, Ives said, strengthened the case for both companies “operating as one engineering platform over time.”

Ives has been a vocal proponent of the merger idea, with the bullish Tesla analyst, back in September, saying that there was an 80% chance that both the Elon Musk-led enterprises would come under one umbrella by 2027. He also said that such a merger had the potential to become the “biggest company in the world.”

Tesla shares, following the Roadster’s successful flying car demo, were on the rise during pre-market trading on Friday, with Benzinga Pro data showing that the stock grew 4.79% to $379.80/share on the NASDAQ. SPCX shares also grew 2.33% to $152.08 in pre-market trading on Friday.

Ross Gerber Touts ‘Obvious’ Merger, Gene Munster Weighs In

Merger speculation comes as investor Ross Gerber of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth Management said that following the Roadster debut, it had become “obvious” that both Tesla and SpaceX would be heading towards a merger. However, Gerber also pointed out that the Roadster’s price could be a challenge.

On the other hand, investor Gene Munster said that the Roadster reveal was an “engineering flex” and held no commercial value for the company. However, the Deepwater Asset Management analyst said that the reveal showed that Musk could not wait to merge Tesla and SpaceX.
