Mastercard Incorporated (NYSE:MA) shares are up about 1% on Thursday after the company launched its Global Money Platform with BVNK.

The launch marks Mastercard’s first major integration since its acquisition of BVNK, a stablecoin infrastructure firm, in August.

Connects Traditional Payments With Stablecoins

The platform connects Mastercard’s payment network with BVNK’s stablecoin technology through a single API, allowing banks and fintech companies to manage fiat currencies and stablecoins through one account.

Nuvei (NASDAQ:NVEI) and Marqeta (NASDAQ:MQ) are among the first integrators.

Through Mastercard Move, the platform connects to more than 17 billion endpoints.

Coverage is expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across 200-plus countries and territories in 2027.

Expands Stablecoin Payment Options

Users can spend stablecoin balances at hundreds of millions of merchant locations within Mastercard’s acceptance network, while card issuance is available in more than 130 countries.

Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard’s executive vice president of Blockchain and Digital Assets, said the launch brings traditional payments and digital assets together on a common infrastructure.

He added that it advances the company’s strategy to enable transactions across different forms of money and support programmable commerce.
