Investor and Baron Capital founder Ron Baron has predicted that Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) could be worth as much as $50 trillion within a decade, but CEO Elon Musk thinks even that estimate may be too modest.
Ron Baron Predicts Starlink Could Reach $15 Trillion
On Tuesday, user Vincent (@SPCX100T) shared a video of Baron speaking at an event, where he said that SpaceX will be “worth $20 trillion, $30 trillion, $50 trillion,” and that Musk still thought Baron was “way low.” The investor then said that there were “good fundamentals” and that he was “not pulling numbers out of the air.”
Baron then expressed bullish sentiments about Starlink. “I think that Starlink alone in the next 10 years is going to be worth somewhere around $14 trillion, $15 trillion,” Baron said. He added that the business was still in the “early stages” of that growth.
He then hailed Musk’s orbital data center goals, saying it was not possible to build data centers on Earth and that the business would be “multiple of how big Starlink is going to be.” Towards the end, Baron said he was thinking the investment could generate at least 20 to 30 times the return.
Towards the end, Baron said that there could be at least 20 to 30 times more growth.
Musk Says There Could Be More
Responding to the user, Musk made his own prediction for SpaceX. The trillionaire said that SpaceX will probably surpass $100 trillion in less than a decade “unless there is a major world war.”
SpaceX-Tesla Merger?
Musk’s comments come as Barclays analyst Dan Levy predicted that SpaceX and Musk-led EV giant Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) could merge by December 2026. Musk, last month, added to the longstanding speculation about the two enterprises merging, saying that there was already deep collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX.
A merger between the two enterprises, however, could be detrimental to Tesla shareholders, according to comments made by investor Ross Gerber of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth Management during a conversation with Benzinga.
