Anthropic launched the Claude Frontier Academy on Friday with a $100 million commitment to train 10,000 AI engineers by the end of 2027, as the company nears an expected initial public offering (IPO).
What the Academy Will Teach
The program will draw “frontier deployed engineers” from firms in Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network, according to the company’s press release.
Early groups include engineers from Accenture PLC (NYSE:ACN), Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE:NVO) and several top consulting firms.
Anthropic said training will begin with a “simulated enterprise deployment” and a graded assessment. Those who pass will enter a residency modeled on medical training, where they will practice on casework before being assessed and credentialed. The company expects the first engineers to be certified in early 2027.
AI Engineer Demand Surges
Draup data provided exclusively to CNBC shows job postings for forward deployed engineers and other AI roles have surged in finance this year.
Separately, software engineer job postings were up about 11% year over year, according to a March analysis of Indeed data by Citadel Securities.
The program also comes as Anthropic expands quickly and prepares to potentially go public later this year. The company generated nearly $4.6 billion in revenue last year but posted an operating loss above $8 billion, according to a leaked copy of its IPO prospectus reported this week.
