Monte Rosa Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:GLUE) reported Phase 1 trial results for its inflammatory disease drug candidate MRT-8102, while outlining plans to advance the treatment into multiple Phase 2 studies.
The biotechnology firm announced that its NEK7-directed molecular glue degrader demonstrated target degradation and reductions in systemic and cardiovascular inflammatory biomarkers among high-risk trial participants.
Promising Phase 1 GFORCE-1 Clinical Trial Outcomes
The GFORCE-1 study evaluated 108 obese participants with elevated cardiovascular disease risk.
Participants received daily doses of 5 mg, 20 mg, or 40 mg of MRT-8102, or a placebo, across a four-week treatment period followed by four weeks of safety tracking.
Researchers observed an 80% to 90% median reduction in NEK7 degradation across all dosage groups.
Treatment with MRT-8102 substantially lowered systemic inflammation indicators and plaque growth drivers to levels comparable to healthy baselines.
Key trial outcomes included median decreases of 85% in hsCRP, 54% in IL-6, 56% in calprotectin, 51% in SAA, and 46% in S100A12.
Additionally, the drug lowered median lipoprotein(a) levels by 24% without elevating LDL-C or triglyceride levels, while reducing thrombogenic fibrinogen by 28%.
In subjects with elevated baseline levels, median HMGB1 and IL-1β declined by 40% and 37%, respectively.
