Tesla Inc.‘s (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk said that the upcoming unveiling of the anticipated Roadster high-performance vehicle on Oct. 1 would far exceed expectations.

Elon Musk Says the Event Is Not AI

During his appearance on the All In Podcast via video on Monday, Musk spoke about the Tesla Roadster. “Come October 1st,” the billionaire said.

“Success is not guaranteed, but excitement is,” the CEO added. All In Podcast host Jason Calacanis then said that he had seen a preview of what the event could show, saying that the demo would “blow people’s minds” at the event.

“We need an audience to vouch for the fact that this is not AI,” Musk said. Calacanis added that he initially believed what Musk showed him was a simulation, but the Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) CEO confirmed it was real.

In the past, Musk has teased the “flying car,” as well as saying that Roadster would be better than all the technology in fictional MI6 Agent James Bond‘s cars.

Notably, Tesla had filed a patent which was granted in August last year. The patent detailed an active aerodynamic system which could suck air through a series of fans to generate downforce “across varying conditions.” The filing also mentioned that the system could be used to make the car hover by reversing the airflow.

Tesla-SpaceX Merger?

During the same appearance, Musk was also asked about a possible merger between Tesla and SpaceX, to which Musk hinted at the possibility, citing deep collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX. The merger could hand Musk an $824 billion payday through terms in the new Tesla CEO pay package approved by investors in November.

Price Action: Tesla shares were down 0.48% at $357.24 during premarket trading on Tuesday.
