Coinbase Global Inc (NASDAQ:COIN) stock is moving higher Wednesday as the broader cryptocurrency market finds its footing.

Bitcoin Stabilization Fuels Optimism

Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) is climbing near the $68,500-level after weathering recent selling pressure, supported by ETFs pulling in $486.85 million across the first two sessions of the week.

A climbing Bitcoin price ignites retail and institutional trading activity, directly fueling the high-margin transaction volumes that drive Coinbase’s core revenues. Higher token prices simultaneously expand Coinbase’s total assets under custody, lifting its asset-based fee generation.

As a high-beta proxy for crypto markets, COIN shares tend to move more sharply than Bitcoin itself, amplifying gains and losses in either direction.

Stablecoin Regulation & Revenue Tailwinds

Beyond Bitcoin’s price stabilization, Coinbase is benefiting from a shifting regulatory landscape. The Treasury Department proposed new rules on Monday for the GENIUS Act, a stablecoin framework enacted in July 2025.

The proposed rulemaking requires payment stablecoin issuers to secure a federal or state license beginning on January 18, 2027. Furthermore, starting July 18, 2028, it will be unlawful for digital asset platforms to offer or sell payment stablecoins to U.S. persons unless they are issued by a permitted, licensed issuer. The proposal also places strict due-diligence duties on exchanges that list stablecoins.

Because Coinbase has a major financial partnership with Circle, the creator of the USDC stablecoin, clearer federal regulations are viewed as a significant tailwind that could accelerate mainstream corporate and banking adoption.

Furthermore, Coinbase captured roughly $324.6 million in USDC distribution costs in the second-quarter alone, highlighting that stablecoins are providing a massive, non-trading revenue stream.

Adding to Wednesday’s momentum, Coinbase officially rolled out direct Brazilian Real trading for USDC on its Advanced platform, a targeted move to capture institutional volume in Latin America’s largest market.
