Kronos Worldwide Inc. (NYSE:KRO) shares are surging Thursday afternoon following the company’s impressive second-quarter 2026 financial results.

Earnings Surpass Expectations Driven by Volume and Cost Cuts

The titanium dioxide producer posted net income of $15.2 million, or 13 cents per share, reversing a net loss of $9.2 million, or 8 cents per share, from the same period last year. The bottom-line result easily beat analyst consensus estimates expecting a loss of $0.04 per share.

Net sales increased 13% year-over-year to $558.1 million, outperforming Wall Street expectations of $502.3 million. Sales growth was primarily propelled by market share gains and a 16% rise in sales volumes.

Management Highlights Growth Momentum and Cost Discipline

The company attributed its profitability turn to higher sales volumes, reduced raw material costs and structural operational benefits from cost-reduction initiatives launched in late 2025.

“Our second quarter results reflect solid progress against the priorities we established at the beginning of the year,” said Brian Christian, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We believe we have positive momentum entering the second half of 2026, driven by continued execution of our operational, commercial and cost reduction initiatives.”

While energy costs remain high, leadership expressed confidence that disciplined cost management and ongoing pricing actions will continue to mitigate inflationary pressures and support long-term cash flow generation.
