Benjamin Netanyahu is not cryptocurrency punters’ favorite to come back to power in Israel, while his main challenger, Gadi Eizenkot, is seen as the frontrunner.
A Change Brewing In Israel?
Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket priced in a 37% chance of Netanyahu becoming Prime Minister once again after the October elections, with 51% odds in favor of Eisenkot, the former chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces.
Netanyahu’s odds have stayed roughly the same over the past month, while Eisenkot’s have risen by 14 percentage points. Over $28 million has already been wagered on the outcome.
The vote will be Israel’s first national election since the October 2023 Hamas attack, the country’s worst security failure, which triggered Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip. A June study by Jerusalem’s Israel Democracy Institute reported that 61% of respondents did not want Netanyahu to run again.

The Israeli leader has also had an arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza
His ties with President Donald Trump, who is a vocal backer of Israel, had likewise grown tense recently.
Trump voiced frustration over Netanyahu’s actions in Lebanon and allegedly called him “crazy” in a heated, expletive-filled phone call in June.
But since the U.S. resumed its strikes against Iran, the situation has shifted.
Trump publicly backed Netanyahu and declared that the Israeli leader would not be arrested “in any way, shape, or form” during his U.S. visit amid New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani‘s threats.
