Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (NYSE:TSM) stock climbed nearly 4% in Tuesday’s premarket session as investors returned to semiconductor stocks. Nasdaq futures rose 1.37%, while S&P 500 futures gained 0.57%, supporting risk appetite across the technology sector.
The early gain reflects renewed buying interest in large-cap chipmakers as investors rotate back into growth stocks.
Taiwan Semiconductor remains in a long-term uptrend despite recent weakness. The latest move suggests investors may be buying the recent pullback rather than viewing it as the start of a broader reversal.
Taiwan Semiconductor Plans Up To 10% Chip Price Hike
Sentiment received an additional boost after Bloomberg, citing Nikkei, reported that Taiwan Semiconductor is planning to raise chip manufacturing prices by 5% to 10% in 2027.
The price increases are intended to offset higher costs for materials, equipment and capacity expansion driven by strong artificial intelligence demand.
CEO C.C. Wei reiterated that the company’s pricing strategy is “strategic, not opportunistic,” as it continues investing heavily in new manufacturing capacity, including its $265 billion Arizona expansion.
Bloomberg also reported that the company is delaying the proposed increases until 2027 to give customers more time to adjust.
Technical Picture Remains Constructive
Taiwan Semiconductor trades about 18.6% above its 200-day simple moving average and 6.1% above its 100-day average, keeping the long-term trend positive.
However, the stock remains 3.8% below its 20-day moving average and 1.8% below its 50-day moving average. Tuesday’s premarket rally is testing whether shares can regain those short-term levels.
The moving-average structure remains bullish because the 20-day average is above the 50-day average, and the 50-day average is above the 200-day average. Momentum has weakened, though. The MACD remains below its signal line, suggesting buyers need to regain control to extend the rally.
Key resistance sits near $450. A move above that level could signal renewed upside momentum. Support is around $405.50, an area traders may watch to determine whether the longer-term uptrend remains intact.
