President Donald Trump lashed out at Jessica Tarlov in a late-night social media post on Thursday, escalating his attacks on journalists after the Fox News host cited weak polling numbers during a television segment.
Trump, posting on Truth Social while traveling aboard Air Force One, called Tarlov “one of the least attractive and talented people on all of television” and accused her of fabricating poll data.
He added that her commentary was “fake” and claimed his own approval ratings were among the best he has had.

Clash Follows On-Air Criticism Of Poll Numbers
The comments came after Tarlov, a Democratic strategist and co-host on The Five program by Fox, pointed to declining approval ratings during a panel discussion.
She said Trump was polling around 35% approval in several surveys and argued that key policies — including tariffs, the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran and a proposed White House ballroom — lacked broad public support.
Recent polling broadly aligns with that assessment. A YouGov survey conducted with The Economist found approval at 38%, with a majority disapproving of Trump’s performance as of Friday.
Tarlov Pushes Back As Criticism Widens
Tarlov rejected Trump’s claims, responding on X that the numbers were “far from fake” and using the moment to promote her upcoming book. The exchange quickly drew attention online, highlighting ongoing tensions between the president and media figures.
Trump has frequently targeted journalists — particularly women — using personal insults in response to critical coverage. Past remarks have included attacks on reporters’ competence and appearance, drawing criticism from media advocates and political opponents.
In the same post, Trump also criticised conservative commentators Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, claiming without evidence that their audiences were declining.
