Two AI startup founders have joined Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence venture xAI.
Firebender Founder Aman Gottumukkala Joins xAI And SpaceX
On Sunday, Aman Gottumukkala, co-founder of AI coding startup Firebender, announced on X that he is joining SpaceX and xAI to help develop advanced AI capable of writing software.
Firebender, which Gottumukkala built through Y Combinator, focuses on automating Android application development at scale.
“I’m joining @SpaceX and @xai to build the best coding AI,” Gottumukkala wrote on X. He added that the technology he helped build became “the most widely used coding agent for Android,” scaling to millions in revenue with a small team.
Highlighting the rapid pace of AI progress, Gottumukkala said the industry appears to be “on the brink of recursive superintelligence,” calling it “the most important problem to solve in history.”
Sweep Co-Founder William Zeng Also Joins Musk’s AI Effort
Another engineer, William Zeng, also revealed he is joining SpaceX and xAI.
Zeng previously co-founded Sweep, an AI coding assistant designed for JetBrains development tools and earlier worked at Roblox.
“The opportunity for impact at xAI is monumental,” Zeng wrote. “By solving autonomous engineering, we’ll be able to accelerate our progress towards the future.”
Both announcements received a brief response from Musk on X, who replied, “Welcome.”
SpaceX-xAI Integration And IPO Ambitions
Musk confirmed in February that SpaceX had acquired xAI, valuing the space company at roughly $1 trillion and the AI startup at about $250 billion.
SpaceX is also reportedly preparing for a potential IPO on the NASDAQ, with Musk previously indicating the company could target a valuation of around $1.75 trillion.
