The world’s richest billionaire Elon Musk has been the subject of movies and documentaries, with people wanting to know more about the CEO and entrepreneur. Musk is the subject of a new documentary that serves as a sequel to a series from 2022.

BBC Takes on Elon Musk, Again

Adding to the list of movies and documentaries being made about Musk, BBC is adding its name to the growing list with a follow-up title to its 2022 series “The Elon Musk Show.

The sequel project, which comes from 72 Films, will cover the time period since the last series with a large focus on the acquisition of Twitter and Musk’s increased political activity, as reported by Deadline. The new work is also likely to cover the growth of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) since 2022.

Tentatively titled “Musk: The Next Chapter,” the new project is expected to look into Musk’s relationship with President Donald Trump, which included the launch of the Department of Government Efficiency and a public falling out that was later reversed.

The 72 Films documentary features interviews with people who are said to be close to Musk and provide in-depth looks into what has changed in his personal and professional life since 2022.

“Musk, a visionary who wants to save free speech, the ultimate humanitarian, or an unelected superpower willing to burn it all down for his own benefit?” The documentary is said to answer.

Fremantle, which owns a majority stake in 72 Films, will be the global distributor of the project.

“It is essential to explore his motivations and the people we’ve interviewed have given real insight into how Elon Musk became who he is today,” director Gussy Sakula-Barry said.

Sakula-Barry said Musk has “a unique position of power” and a lot to say about our future, making the documentary important to highlight his life and motivations.

Elon Musk Big Budget Move in the Works

While several smaller documentary and low-budget movies have been made about Musk, Tesla and SpaceX, the largest project around the billionaire was announced several years ago.

A24 landed the rights to the Walter Isaacson biography about Musk that was released in September 2023.

Director Darren Aronofsky was named the director and producer of the project, a decision that was blessed by Musk publicly on social media.

There have been minimal updates on the film since Aronofsky was attached in November 2023, including no word on who will play Musk in the film.

Musk teased in 2025 that he should release an autobiography, updating the story of his life since the 2023 Isaacson book and highlighting his life in his own words.
