Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced the iPhone 17e on Monday, the latest addition to the iPhone 17 family aimed at customers looking for a more affordable entry point.

Apple Unveils iPhone 17e at $599 With Double the Storage

The device starts at $599 for 256 gigabyte (GB) — twice the entry storage of its predecessor at the same price point.

The phone is built around Apple’s new A19 chip on 3-nanometer technology and features C1X, the company’s latest in-house cellular modem, which Apple says is up to 2 times faster than the C1 found in iPhone 16e.

A 48MP Fusion camera supports 4K Dolby Vision video and an optical-quality 2 times Telephoto. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display uses Ceramic Shield 2 with 3 times better scratch resistance than the prior generation.

“iPhone 17e combines powerful performance and features our users love at an exceptional value, making it a compelling option for customers looking to upgrade to the iPhone 17 family,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing.

The phone comes in black, white, and soft pink. Pre-orders open Wednesday, with availability starting March 11 in more than 70 countries.

iPad Air Gets M4 Chip and 50% More Memory at Same Starting Price

Alongside the iPhone announcement, Apple also revealed an iPad Air powered by the M4 chip. The new tablet ships with 12GB of unified memory — a 50% jump over the previous generation — and memory bandwidth of 120GB/s.

Apple says the M4 makes the new iPad Air up to 30% faster than the M3 version and up to 2.3 times faster than the M1 model. The tablet also brings in Apple’s N1 wireless chip, enabling Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, plus C1X for cellular models.

“iPad Air gives users more ways than ever to be creative and productive,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

The 11-inch model starts at $599 and the 13-inch at $799 — unchanged from before.

Tim Cook Had Telegraphed the Week

On Thursday, CEO Tim Cook teased a “big week ahead” in a post on X, noting that the rollout of announcements would begin Monday morning. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, widely recognized for his accurate reporting on upcoming Apple hardware, has stated that a new low-cost MacBook is widely expected to be a centerpiece of the launch.

According to Gurman, the release window may also include refreshed MacBook Pro models featuring M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, updated MacBook Air machines, a new iPad Air powered by the M4 chip, and an entry-level iPad equipped with the A18 processor.

AAPL Price Action: Apple shares were down 0.05% at $264.06 at the time of publication on Monday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
