WeRide Inc. (NASDAQ:WRD) stock rose Wednesday after the company launched its Robotaxi service Mini Program, “WeRide Go”, on WeChat in China.
WeChat is one of the most popular apps in China, developed by Tencent Holding Ltd. (OTC:TCEHY), with over a billion users.
Now Available In Selected Areas
With this, people in areas where WeRide operates, like Guangzhou’s Huangpu District and Beijing’s Yizhuang District, can now book a Robotaxi ride directly through WeChat.
With the “WeRide Go” Mini Program, users can quickly request a ride and enjoy a safe, easy, and comfortable autonomous taxi experience, no extra app needed.
WeRide now offers its Robotaxi service on WeChat, making autonomous rides more accessible and convenient. The WeRide Go Mini Program leverages WeChat’s massive user base to lower barriers, boost awareness, and build trust in its technology.
Notably, with over 1,000 Robotaxis worldwide, WeRide is expanding access, increasing rides, and moving toward large-scale commercialization with plans for tens of thousands of Robotaxis by 2030.
Expansion In The UAE
Last month, WeRide and Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER), in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), launched Robotaxi passenger rides in Dubai on the Uber app.
Also, in November, WeRide and Uber launched Level 4 fully driverless robotaxi commercial service in Abu Dhabi. The rollout makes Abu Dhabi the first Middle Eastern city, and the first market outside the U.S., to offer fully driverless rides on the Uber platform.
WRD Price Action: WeRide shares were up 1.02% at $8.90 during premarket trading on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
