In an unprecedented act of violence, a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney turned deadly, resulting in the loss of 11 lives and leaving 29 injured. This incident marks the deadliest shooting in Australia in almost 30 years.
What Happened: As reported by Associated Press, the attack occurred on Sunday during a public Hanukkah celebration. The Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, has condemned the incident, categorizing it as an act of antisemitic terrorism.
Two gunmen were involved in the assault. One was fatally shot by the police, while the other was arrested and is currently in a critical condition.
The police are investigating several suspicious items, including improvised explosive devices found in one of the suspect’s cars.

Among the victims was Rabbi Eli Schlanger, assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi and a key organizer of the event.
