President Trump is coming under intense fire.
Along with the trade war, talk of impeachment, and a slowing economy, he must now reveal the last eight years of tax returns. All after a court rejected Trump’s claim that a White House occupant does have “absolute immunity from criminal process of any kind.”
“The president asserts an extraordinary claim in the dispute now before this court,” a Manhattan federal court judge wrote, as quoted by NBC News. “This Court cannot endorse such a categorical and limitless assertion of presidential immunity from the judicial process.”
However, this does not mean tax returns will be released immediately.
An attorney for Trump filed for an emergency notice of appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which agreed to temporarily block the initial order.
In response, Trump tweeted, “The Radical Left Democrats have failed on all fronts, so now they are pushing local New York City and State Democrat prosecutors to go get President Trump. A thing like this has never happened to any President before. Not even close!”
This is a breaking story. Check back for more updates.
